27 February 2011: Kingston fails to get promotion in Surrey League

Kingston have completed their matches for this season in the second division of the Surrey League. The final outcome was Played 7 Won 4 Lost 3 which places Kingston in the top half of the league but is not quite good enough to get automatic promotion. The top team South Norwood narrowly beat Kingston recently to douse any chances.

There are some good aspects of the season. Perhaps the most notable is that Kingston fought every game and made life difficult for their opponents. Three of the wins were achieved dropping no more than one point. All the losses were by the narrowest of margins. So next season Kingston will continue to present formidable challenges to the competition.

League Table

Meanwhile in the Thames Valley league, David Rowson enjoyed his win against Paul Bradford of Wimbledon 3. He rarely has successful kingside attacks, so this was a pleasant change although he describes the game as akin to a self-mate by his opponent.
